Bill Owens Interview
Exclusively on Gellust - an interview I did with renowned photographer Bill Owens whose 1973 monograph “Suburbia” went on to collect accolades the world over. Bill’s most well-known work includes not only “Suburbia” but also his other monographs depicting suburban life, “Our Kind of People” and “Work: I Do It For the Money”. He is America’s foremost documentarian of the suburban environment, an environment that is often overlooked or deprecated by cultural commentators. But in these monographs, Bill shows that there exists vibrancy and vivacity in a place that is wrongly considered to be dull.
In this audio interview, we chat about his process, and the road he took to creating these monographs. We also catch up with him to see what he’s up to now and to see what he’s working on.
(NOTE: The audio might be a bit low so you might have to turn up your speakers)
If you want to see more of his images, go to www.billowens.com.
Also, please feel free to photo reply to this post with images in the style of Bill Owens!
